Access to Work (AtW)
Funded ADHD Coaching Support

Click here to learn how to apply.

If you’re employed or self-employed and have ADHD, you may be eligible for government-funded ADHD coaching through the Access to Work scheme.

This funding can cover the cost of coaching sessions designed to help you thrive at work-by improving your focus, planning, time management, communication, and overall workplace wellbeing.

What is Access to Work?

Access to Work (AtW) is a UK government programme that provides financial support for people with a disability or long-term condition (including ADHD) to help them overcome barriers in the workplace. If you qualify, AtW may fully fund a number of ADHD coaching hours to support your performance, confidence, and career development.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Have a diagnosis of ADHD (formal or self-identified may be accepted)

  • Are employed, self-employed, or about to start a new job

  • Are aged 16 or over

  • Live and work in England, Scotland, or Wales

  • Face challenges at work related to your ADHD

You don’t need to be in full-time work, and it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in your role.

How to Apply for Access to Work

Applying is straightforward. Here are the steps:

1. Apply online
Visit the Access to Work website and complete the online application form. You’ll need your:

  • National Insurance number

  • Workplace address and contact details

  • Details about your condition (e.g. ADHD)

  • The kind of support you think would help (e.g. specialist ADHD coaching)

2. Wait for contact from an AtW advisor
An advisor will call or email you to discuss your application. They may ask about the challenges you face at work and what kind of support would be useful.

3. Mention ADHD coaching
Be clear that you are applying for specialist ADHD coaching. You can let them know that your coach (me!) is experienced in ADHD workplace support.

4. Assessment (optional)
Sometimes, Access to Work may arrange a workplace needs assessment to determine what kind of support would be most beneficial. This can be done remotely and is nothing to worry about.

5. Approval and funding
Once approved, AtW will provide you with a funding award letter, outlining the number of hours approved for ADHD coaching and how to claim.

What Happens Next

Once your funding is approved:

  • AtW will either pay me directly or reimburse your employer (depending on how your application is set up)

  • We’ll agree on a coaching schedule that works for you

  • I’ll handle the invoicing and progress reports, so you don’t have to

I’m happy to support you through the process, provide quotes, or answer any questions the AtW team might have. Just let me know what you need.
